What is your name, young man?"Years later Oscar was staring at the finely carved handle of the umberlla as he remembered Mrs Katie O' Brien. It was in perfect condition, considering how _37_ it was. Why had it arrived here today? As if _38_, a note fell from the paper. It read: Mrs Katie O' Brien wanted you to _39_ this umbrella as a present for a kind, _40_ gesture long ago.21 A strictly B carefully C roughly D casuallyB根据后面一句话“Oscar saw an umbrella inside-a very old one with a beautifully carved wooden handle.” 我们可以知道这把伞很漂亮很特殊,老妇人很珍惜,所以盒子应该是很小心地包裹,其它选项都不符。A是严格地,C是粗略地,D是随便地。22 A opening B seizing C observing D searching A前面说是“a long, narrow box, wrapped in brown paper”, 所以要想看到里面的伞应该先打开,故用A。seizing是抓,observing观察,searching 查找。23 A after B when C since D althoughD下文讲述了OSCAR与这把伞的故事,印象深刻,并且由下面一个单词“recognized”认出,可以判断句子的意思是 尽管O已经20多年没有见到这伞了,但他马上认出了它。前后是让步关系,ABC都不符。24 A clearly B fully C immediately D suddenlyC见上题分析,C立即马上最符合语境,A是清楚地,B是完全地,D是突然,C最符合语境。25 A average B unusual C plain D typicalB前面“Oscar saw an umbrella inside-a very old one with a beautifully carved wooden handle.”及倒数第二段提到的“Oscar was staring at the finely carved handle of the umberlla”,可以知道O对这把伞是很喜欢且是褒义,B最符合。Average是普通的,C是朴素的,D是典型的。C最符合。2 6 A beauty B shape C origin D historyA前面“Oscar saw an umbrella inside-a very old one with a beautifully carved wooden handle.”及倒数第二段提到的“Oscar was staring at the finely carved handle of the umberlla”,可以知道这把伞是漂亮,故选A。BCD文中都没有提示,B形状,C起源,D历史。27 A desigener B seller C user D ownerD由下文可知伞是这个老妇人的,"I'd like to return it if it's yours,"所以应该是要找到它的主人,“yes! It's mine.”owner正确。Designer是设计者,seller 卖方,user使用者。28 A convinced B forced C encouraged D advisedAconvince sb. to do sth.。该句是Oscar使经理确信。Forced 被迫,C鼓励,D建议。29 A until B before C which D whereD.关系副词where引导的定语从句,修饰seat. 一个名字匹配了这个位置,也就是Oscar找到这把伞的地方。30 A family B theater C house D neighborhoodC此题不难,由下文bell, door等词可以推断出他们是到这把伞的主人家里去。31 A invite B help C bother D knowB原题意思,需要我帮您什么吗?其他几个均不符合此场景。32 A putting up B turning out C picking up D holding outD put up 建造,举起。Tutn out 结果是,pick up捡起,hold out 坚持,伸出。题目意思O伸出这把伞给这个老妇人。33 A chance B fact C gift D resultC由下文that had long been wished for及前文 可以知道O很喜欢这把伞,故像展示一个盼望已久的礼物一样把伞递给这个老妇人。34 A wide B confident C proud D shyA下文老妇人说这把伞是她父亲很多年前给予的,及shining eyes 等可推断出用wide, 修饰smile,露出了灿烂的笑容。B自信的笑容,C骄傲的笑容,D腼腆的笑容均不符。35 A patience B kindness C courage D determinationBA耐心,B善意,C勇气,D决心。文中老妇人问 我能拿什么报答你的善意的举动。B符合,与for a kind 相呼应。36 A obviously B naturally C exactly D probablyCA明显地,B自然地,C正是,D也许。“那正是我父亲过去说的”。因此选C37 A old B rare C precious D niceA 回忆结束Years later 说明很多年了,但是It was in perfect condition它还是很完美,所以是O在纳闷这伞是有多久的历史。38 A in contrast B in return C in exchange D in answerDin contrast 与此相反,相比较起来;in return作为报答;in exchange 作为交换,in answer,作为回答。联系上下文,前面一段最后一句正好问,后面有一张字条掉出来回答了这个问题。因此选D最符合语境。39 A possess B accept C carry D valueB句中Mrs Katie O' Brien 希望你能够接受这把作为伞,作为礼物。A是占有拥有,Carry携带搬运,value评价,均不符。40 A attractive B significant C unselfish D sympatheticC“为了很久以前那善意的,无私的行为”。A有吸引力的,B意义重大的,D同情的。O把伞还给了主人,而不是因为自己喜欢而占有它,说明他的行为是很无私的。C最符合。第三节:阅读理解 A Easter is still a great day for worship, candy in baskets and running around the yard finding eggs, but every year it gets quite a bit worse for bunnies. And no, not because the kids like to pull their ears. The culprit is climate change, and some researchers found that rising temperatures are having harmful effects on at least five species of rabbit in the US. Take the Lower Keys Marsh rabbit , for instance. An endangered species that lives in the Lower Florida Keys, this species of cottontail is a great swimmer- it lives on the islands! - but it is already severely affected by development and now by rising sea levels. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, an ocean level rise of only 0.6 meters will send these guys jumping to higher ground and a 0.9-meter rise would wipe out their habitat completely. The snowshoe hare, on the other hand, has a color issue. Most of these rabbits change their fur color from white in the wintertime to brown in the summer, each designed to give them better cover from predators. As the number of days with snow decreases all across the country, however, more and more bunnies are being left in white fur during brown dirt days of both fall and spring, making them an easier mark for predators. Researchers know that the color change is controlled by the number of hours of sunlight, but whether the rabbit will be able to adapt quick enough to survive is a big question. The National Wildlife Federation has reported that hunters have noticed their numbers are already markedly down. American pikas or rock rabbits, a relative of rabbits and hares, might be the first of theses species to go extinct due to climate change. About 7-8inches long, pikas live high in the cool, damp mountains west of the Rocky Mountains. As global temperature rise, they would naturally migrate to higher ground-but they already occupy the mountaintops. They can't go any higher. The National Wildlife Federation reports that they might not be able to stand the new temperatures as their habitat beats up.The volcano rabbit has the same problem. These rabbits live on the slopes of volcanoes in Mexico, and recent studies have shown that the lower range of their habitat has already shifted upward about 700meters, but there are not suitable plants for them to move higher, so they are stuck in the middle. Scientists are concerned about their populations.Native to the US, pygmy rabbits weigh less than 1 pound and live in the American West. They are believed to be the smallest rabbits in the world. Their habitats have been destroyed by development. Several populations, such as the Columbia Basin pygmy, almost went extinct and were saved by zoo breeding programs. Pygmy rabbits also rely on winter cover by digging tunnels through the snow to escape predators, but lesser snowfall is leaving them exposed. All of this gives new meaning to dressing up in a giant bunny costume this Easter.41. The writer mentions Easter at the beginning of the passage in order to _ A show the importance of Easter Day B introduce the issue about bunnies C remind people of Easter D discuss the relationship between Easter and bunniesB全文都描述了因为天气变化兔子面临的生存困境。因此在第一段提到复活节是为了介绍引出兔子。如果是A,那么下文应该都是写复活节的,如果是C下文也应该重点描写复活节,如果是D,下文应该描写复活节和兔子。但是下文重点在兔子,因此选B。42. The word "culprit" is closest in meaning to _. A criminal B judge C victim D producerAThe culprit is climate change, and some researchers found that rising temperatures are having harmful effects on at least five species of rabbit in the US.一些研究人员发现温度升高至少对美国的5种兔子产生了负面影响。因此气候变化应该是罪魁祸首,A符合。B裁判员,C受害者,D生产者。43. According to the passage, some rabbits can now be easily discovered by predators because they_.A are exposed to more skillful huntersB have moved to habitats with fewer plants.C haven't adapted themselves to climate changeD can't change their fur color into white in the fall and the spring C关注文中第四段。文中提到这类兔子在冬天毛毛是白色的,夏天是棕色的,这样不易被捕食者发现。但是由于气温升高,冬天有雪的日子越来越少,兔子来还不及适应来不解改变毛毛的颜色,就使得它们很容易被发现。选C。 A,B文中没有提及。D意思正好反了,应该是变成棕色,而不是白色。44. The problem faced by volcano rabbits and rock rabbits is that _.A both are affected by less snow B both are affected by rising sea levelsC neither can find enough food D neither can migrate to higher placesDA,B,C选项文中讲述这两种兔子的第5段和第6段都没有提及,D正确。Volcano rabbits 因为温度上升不断上移它们的生存空间到了700米这个高度,但是因为再上面没有合适的植物了因此无法再上升,but there are not suitable plants for them t
